Centrifugal
Centrifugal or Turbo Air Movers
Typically used to dry or "float" carpet. They have a snout that directs the airflow underneath the carpeting (GTA Restoration recommends a clamp to hold the carpet on to the air mover). Centrifugal air movers use high static pressure to push the air and lift heavy, wet carpet. One square yard of wet carpeting can hold 2-3 gallons of water, and just one gallon weighs eight pounds, so a lot of power is needed to make sure the job can be done effectively. For that reason, centrifugal air movers tend to draw a lot of amperage, around 4.0-11.0 amps. You will only be able to plug two air movers into a typical household outlet, which is usually a 15-amp circuit. Most models will provide 1,100 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) of air volume.
