Almost all of the prefabricated Granite comes from China. Beware of this cheap alternative to custom Granite countertops! The lamination on prefab tops is mediocre at best and often the material used is grade B material and it looks it. The prefab Granite isn’t polished or factory filled correctly, leaving it with lots of pits in it.
There are many misconceptions with Granite in comparison to a man made Quartz product. Quartz is very color specific where Granite is not. Quartz isn’t nearly as heat-resistant as Granite and isn’t as scratch resistant as Granite is. Quartz should only be used in an indoor application. If used outdoors it will fade or discolor, and can even warp. If using Granite in an outside application, always remember that dark colors will attract heat and the stone will be very hot to the touch in full sun.
